Much like any other normal human being, celebrities need to take a break from their work every once in a while. Although this practice is very risky as this could either make or break a star’s career, several movie and TV personalities have decided on hitting the pause button to focus more on their families, studies, and many more. Here’s a list of celebrities who have gone out and went back to the showbiz industry.
Kylie Padilla’s break from her career was an unexpected news for her fans. After the actress revealed her pregnancy with Aljur Abrenica, Padilla’s role in GMA 7’s 2016 series Encantadia, Sang’gre Amihan was killed off, marking the beginning of her break from showbiz. Just last May, the Padilla made a comeback in GMA’s Lip Sync Battle by conquering the stage against fellow Encantadia actress Gabbi Garcia.
Megan Young launched her showbiz career in the reality talent show, Starstruck. In 2013, she took a break from her career and became the first Filipina to be crowned Miss World. Young then moved to London to spend her reign traveling around the world and advocating the Miss World organization campaign, Beauty with a purpose. She went back to her acting career in 2015 with the lead role in GMA’s Marimar.
Marian Rivera’s break was a short one. The Primetime Queen took a leave from Sunday Pinasaya when she was on the last term of pregnancy with her daughter. She went right back after three months and premiered her new talk show, ‘Yan Ang Morning.

Ellen Adarna and John Lloyd Cruz
While the rumors of the couple being secretly engaged circulated after being seen traveling locally and abroad with each other, Ellen Adarna and John Lloyd Cruz both took an indefinite break from their careers. The break was allegedly caused by Adarna’s pregnancy which the couple has not officially confirmed until now. Just recently, photos of Cruz and Adarna went around social media, showing the actress’ pregnant body. Currently, both actors remain inactive in social media following the death of Adarna’s father.
The famous actress took a sudden leave from her TV series Indio in 2012. In 2013, Lahbati left the country to study in Switzerland. In 2014, the actress revealed that she and fiancé Richard Gutierrez have a son named Zion.
When Angel Locsin’s five-year contract with GMA Network ended in 2007, the actress flew to London to take a short course in fashion design. Much to everyone’s surprise, the actress signed a contract to the rival network four months later.
Queen of All Media proved that she is indeed the Queen of all Media when she decided to leave her home network ABS-CBN after two decades of being their talent. Since then, Aquino has moved to the digital world and launched her own social media channels. She is set to appear in the anticipated Hollywood film, Crazy Rich Asians in 2018.
