Man picks up a huge tooth on the shore one day without realizing it was owned by the terrible megalodon

The Earth is 4.5 billion years old – which means it has a rich, beautiful and sometimes terrible history. Residents of North Carolina shocked when one beach goer discovered something that was definitely not a seashell.

Denny Bland strolled around North Topsail Beach in 2015 and noticed something unusual in the ground. The object initially looked like a piece of driftwood washed up on shore. When he looked closely, he understood that there was more to the strange object than he originally thought.

The six-inch triangular object appeared to have been sharp and pointy at some point. The blunt tip looked just as old as its black rotten base. People in the past usually refer to this object as petrified dragon tongues. In reality, however, this unusual object belongs to the megalodon.

The megalodon was an enormous shark that existed during the Miocene-Pliocene period. According to Cynthia Crane, Director of the Aurora Fossil Museum, every inch of a shark’s tooth corresponds to a size of around 10 feet. This means that the megalodon tooth Denny found once belonged to a 60-foot megalodon

While scientists agree that the megalodon is extinct, residents near the Baja Coast in Mexico would to differ. Numerous sightings of a black massive creature were reported by several witnesses. In fact, because of the number of times it appeared the creature was named the “Black Demon of Cortez”

Others speculate that the black creature could possibly just be a great white shark. However, the waters of Baja are famed for having a diverse ecosystem that some people think the “Black Demon of Cortez” is just another unidentified sea creature.

Though the megalodon is extinct, many people continue to discover its fossilized teeth in ocean shores. The megalodon was definitely a terrifying creature. No person on Earth would ever want to encounter a live one.
