They say that real love means not requiring anything from your partner. Well, for Mariel Rodriguez, there was only one thing that she wished her husband Robin Padilla would comply with before they exchange solemn vows at the altar.
Just recently, Mariel guested at “Magandang Buhay” wherein she confessed her agreement with her would-be spouse.
“First, he asked me kung meron daw bang kailangang kausapin. And then he laid down his cards. Sinabi niya, ‘Ganito ako. May mga anak ako. May pamilya akong sinusuportahan. Importante sa akin ang Mindanao.’ Those are the things na I will always understand.
The actress/host added that prior to being official as a couple, she evaded Robin’s glances. But the “Sana Dalawa Ang Puso Ko” leading man still flirted with her.
O di podium, may contestant. Bubulong, chuchuchu… Habang may contestant, habang nagtatrabaho! So, si Mariel naman kinikilig siyempre, di ba?”
Mariel and Robin’s romance began when the veteran action star became the guest host of the now-defunct Kapamilya variety program, “Wowowee.” She admitted that she sent letters anonymously to Robin during his hosting stint.
“We really wanted him to stay kasi nakita namin na perfect siyang host dahil tanggap siya ng tao at genuine siya sa ginagawa niya. So, it is true that every day I wrote him a letter to stay, pero hindi ko sinasabi kung sino ako.
But Robin was not supposed to stay for too long. Even so, the two swept off each other’s feet in a span of only two weeks.
“It wasn’t right away na nag-text siya nung wala na siya. So akala ko, ‘A, okey, ganun lang pala yun.’ E, biglang nag-text. I really fell in love.”
