KC Concepcion talks about struggles of being a celebrity, building self-love, and mental health on the recent Shopee event

It’s no secret to us fans that behind the glitz and glamor of celebrity life comes constant struggles. Yesterday, at Shopee’s “Beauty Fair”, actress and model KC Concepcion talked about the hardships that came with constantly being thrust into the limelight.

“Kapag artista, parang ang expectation wala kang problema. Minsan masama yung pakiramdam mo or hindi ka naka-smile, may masasabi agad. Expectations are really leveled up,” she explained.

Sure, being the daughter of two famous celebrities did make it easy for KC to dive into the entertainment industry, but it also made it easy for tons of people to nitpick and criticize her.

“Hindi ‘yun mawawala, but I think hindi mo pwedeng dibdibin masyado. I’ve learned to filter. It’s good to listen doon sa may point… Pero ‘yung mga hindi mo naman kilala na actually wala naman talagang care sa ’yo, it’s not worth it na ma-stress sa mga iniisip nila.”

To battle such negativity in her life, KC shared that being surrounded by the people who sincerely love her — God, family, and friends — makes it all easier.

She also advised young women to love themselves for who they truly are. Although admittedly, doing such a thing is not as easy as it sounds, KC shared that knowing one’s strengths and weaknesses will immensely help.

“Kapag honest ka sa sarili mo, and alam mo yung kahinaan mo, and you know what your strengths are — which is what I’ve been doing to myself — it’s not as hard to love yourself.”

Aside from building one’s self-esteem, the 33-year-old actress also shed some light on mental health awareness.

“I really want to share with people na hindi ninyo pwedeng pagtawanan ‘yung mga may pinagdadaanan. Hindi talaga siya biro… It’s a serious thing, na kung kayo man pagdaanan niyo ‘yun, hindi din kayo matutuwa na may natatawa dahil malungkot kayo.”

KC also added that people should start opening their eyes on the issue. She also added that making these troubled individuals smile, would already be of a big help.
