Coming Out Story: Mark Bautista on his male friends

It requires a brave heart to come out as a part of the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) community. In a recent entertainment buzz, this is what the OPM singer turned theater actor Mark Bautista did as he opened up about this coming out story.

In an exclusive episode of “Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho,” he spilled all the beans about his sexuality, his autobiography book entitled “Beyond The Mark”and shared his experience about his relationship with his male friends.

According to him, the 34-year-old celebrity admitted that he was scared that his friends would avoid him when he came out as bisexual. However, he felt confident that there were no specific names mentioned in his tell-all book.

“First of all, wala akong dinetalye na sobra sa book and I have to tap on those experiences, my past experiences. Dahil those experiences made me who I am today.”

He even confessed that he was worried that his longtime friend singer Christian Bautista might see him in a negative light.

“Si Christian, isa ‘yan sa mga maituturing kong totoo kong kaibigan. Nagtanong ‘yan si Ian sa ’kin for a time, ‘Oh, may ilalabas ka palang libro?’

But unsurprisingly Christian Baustista, and even his girlfriend, turned out to be supportive of him.

“I don’t know, for some reasons, hindi ko masabing it’s a coming-out book. Kaya sabi ko, nagulat kaya sila or baka iwasan na nila ako or something. Pero isa siya, especially ‘yung girlfriend niya sa mga nagpakita ng suporta. Nag-text sila. Nag-message sila sa akin nung first day nung na-release ‘yung book.”

In the end, the “Here Lies Love” actor appreciated all the love he received. This is what he said.

So napa-thank you ako. Sila ‘yung mga kaibigan na parang matatakot ka, na baka iwasan na ako nito. They remained as my true friends.”

Today, he claims that he is more comfortable in his own skin and he is finally free.

“Enjoy every moment. Life is a continuous journey, and a continuous learning experience. Just enjoy every moment and embrace every failure in life and trust your journey. Trust God’s process. Huwag masyado dibdibin ‘yung problema. Lahat ng ito lilipas din eh.”
